GOTR LV
Celebrating our Volunteer Coaches!
We just wrapped up Coach Training for the season, and it feels like the perfect time to shine a spotlight on the volunteers who make what we do possible: coaches!
Girls on the Run coaches are the heart of our program. They guide girls through running games and lessons that build confidence, encourage positive self-talk, and teach perseverance. Coaches get to know each girl individually, making her feel seen and helping her recognize her unique strengths. They are also powerful role models for the girls, showing them how to trust themselves, lead with confidence, and make positive choices. In fact, many girls tell us at the end of season that one of their favorite parts of the program was spending time with their coaches! Our coaches show up twice a week in 90 minute sessions over a ten-week season – many of them year after year. Without their time and dedication, we could never deliver our program to so many Las Vegas girls.
This season, more than 100 volunteer coaches are leading teams across the Vegas Valley, including over 50 new coaches who recently completed National Coach Training with us. While new coaches are starting their journey with GOTR, many are bringing years of experience to their teams. Last Fall, we celebrated these returning coaches in GOTR International’s Coach Service Recognition Awards! We honored:
- 65 coaches who’ve been with us for 3 seasons
- 27 coaches who’ve been with us for 5 seasons
- 9 coaches who’ve been with us for 7 seasons
- And 1 coach who has been empowering girls for 10 seasons!
Our coaches do not need to be runners; they simply need to be passionate, caring adults with a desire to support, encourage, and inspire the next generation of young women.
To all our volunteer coaches this season: thank you! You make the program possible by bringing joy, encouragement, and inspiration to every practice!
